"Sheherazade Blue" or/oder " The Keep It Simple Sweater"

Dear friends,

last week, as well as last weekend have been pretty busy (again). And that's why I only write about my newest make today, even though I already finished it on Thursday evening...

A few weeks back Michelle from Dora Does was looking for pattern testers for „The Keep It Simple Sweater“. By chance this coincided perfectly with me looking for a project to test my own hand-dyed yarn with.

Michelle told me I'd need a 4.5mm hook, approx. 200-360 yards of black yarn – no black for me though, I went for Sheherazade Blue (of which I had approx. 420m) - and approx. 690-1300 yards of white – no white for me either, but...
Actually I wanted to combine the Sheherazade Blue with green yarn (even though the hubby and the boys thought me mad – why do I keep asking them for advice!?), which I had to dye before I could get started, which I finally did on May 15...

Along the way I got a little side-tracked cause of a commission (let's not mention day job and household stuff and The Bottle Family) and that's why I only finished the sweater last Thursday evening (on the 31st), sadly enough after the pattern had been launched (sorry Michelle, I did try!).

And? I'M ECSTATIC! About the yarn as well as about the sweater. Frankly said: I didn't want to take it off to cut the ends of the darned threads...
The yarn is 75% pure wool and 25% polyamide, thus qualifying as sock yarn, but I do not mind that soft bit of scratchiness at all (it's not scratchy, if you ask me, it's wool and no supersoft, superwash treated mix of merino and silk)

I won't go on blabbing, but show some pictures instead.

BTW: You can purchase Michelle's pattern here! I'd highly appreciate if you'd consider it, cause I'm all into supporting small businesses as Michelle's. By buying something from a small business/shop as mine or Michelle's, you actually make people like us (real people) make a happy dance (and you're not helping an anonymous manager finance his second Ferrari). Didn't I want to stop blabbing?

I'll keep in touch!

Silly me...

Liebe Freunde,

The Keep It Simple Sweater“.

The sweater isn't that bad in black and white, but I simply need colours!

  9. It must feel great to use your own hand dyed to make a sweater you fall for immediately you put it on! It does look interesting and I am sure it will get plenty of wears!

    1. Oh yes, it feels great indeed. And the sweater suddenly means much more to me, than any of the other coats, etc. I made so far. I'm actually looking forewards to the evenings chills, to put it on (silly me indeed...)!

  10. The sweater fits you very well!!! Was it about to rain on the picture? :-)
Love the combo of the green and the other yarn! Seems to be a good pattern that can't go wrong, much better than trying to knit my own shirt (which is in the bin and the other half got frogged)...

    1. Oh dear! That's my problem too! I always like to make my own pattern, design, etc., but it is so difficult for clothing (at least to me it seems to be difficult). Therefore I was so happy about Michelle's pattern testing, cause... Just imagine I had started creating something myself with my own special yarn and it would have turned out rubbish!? EEK!!!!

  12. What a beautiful version of this sweater! And it looks great on you! I love the color combination you picked - not something I would have chosen myself, but now seeing it together, it is such a fun combo. I am going to have find some coordinating yarns to try this out with.

    1. Ah well, it did take me longer than it should have, cause the pattern is really easy and works pretty fast (little wonder as it's made with a 4.5mm hook). And I'm very happy with the result and the way the colours look. Thank you, dear Ginx!

  15. Marjan if I hadn't seen this sweater I would not have believed this color combination could have looked so good. Me and your boys have no imagination. It looks so good and the blue and orange really pop against that pretty green.

    1. Thank you so much, dear Mary. I would be lying if I'd say I had known exactly what it was going to look like. Of course I do have a feeling a colour-scheme might work out fine (have been working yith yarn and colours for quite a while now) but there is no guarantee. But since I had dyed the Sheherazade Green scheme, I felt pretty confident...
