I‘m Dreaming Of A White Christmas…

Dear friends,

I know, many may find I‘m out of my mind thinking of Christmas at the end of September. Maybe I am, but truth be told: I‘ve been in some kind of Christmas mode for most of the year. In April I joined in the 100DayProject and the topic I chose this year was Christmas ornaments (do have a look at the hashtag #100DaysOfCrochetOrnaments on Instagram).

In the course of 100 days I made Christmas stars, Christmas angels, Scottish Christmas ornaments and looooots of Christmas baubles, small (aka regular size) ones and two large ones.

As I updates my Etsy-shop yesterday (and started selling this huge amount of Christmas ornaments – so, do pop over and have a look!), I‘d like to share the pattern of the large bauble with you.

Large Christmas Bauble

  • yarn in different shades. Chose a weight that can be hooked with a 3.5mm crochet hook
  • a 3.5 mm hook
  • scissors and a darning needle
  • Christmas bauble (14 cm in diameter)

Abreviations (UK terms):
  • ch = chain stitch
  • mc = magic circle
  • ss = slip stitch
  • tr2tog = 2 tr together
  • tr = treble
  • tr3tog = 3 tr together

Start with mc
R1: 12x (1 tr + ch 1) in mc
R2: 12x (1 tr3tog + ch 2)
R3: 12x [2x (1tr2tog + ch 1) in ch-2-sp]
R4: 24x (1 tr2tog + ch 1) in ch-1-sp
R5: 24x (1 tr3tog + ch2) in ch-1-sp
R6: 24x [2x (1tr2tog + ch 1) in ch-2-sp]

R7+8+9: 48x (1 tr2tog + ch 1) in ch-1-sp
R10 (1st half): 48x (1 tr2tog covering 2 ch-1-spaces + ch 1)
R10 (2nd half): 48x (1 tr2tog covering 2 ch-1-spaces + 1 ss in h-1-sp); skip 1 ss for knob and do not forget to insert bauble halfway through!

  • join at the end of each round
  • weave in ends immediately
  • make 2 halves

Happy crocheting and don’t forget to have a look at my Etsy-shop – it’s only 94 days till Christmas after all!!!!

I’ll keep in touch!

Liebe Freunde,

  • Garn in verschiedenen Farbtönen. Das Garn soll mit einer 3,5mm Häkelnadel verarbeitet werden können
  • eine 3,5mm Häkelnadel
  • Schere und Stopfnadel
  • Weihnachtskugel (14 cm Durchmesser)

  • FR = Fadenring
  • Km = Kettmasche
  • Lm = Luftmasche
  • LmB = Luftmaschenbogen (bestehend aus 1, 2 3 oder mehr Lm)
  • Stb = Stäbchen
  • 2 z abStb = 2 zusammen abgemaschte Stäbchen
  • 3 zu bStb = 3 zusammen abgemaschte Stäbchen

Fange an mit einem FR
R1: 12x (1 Stb + 1 Lm) in FR
R2: 12x (3 zuabStb + 2 Lm)
R3: 12x[2x (2 zuabStb + 1 Lm) in LmB]
R4: 24x (2 zuabStb + 1 Lm) in LmB
R5: 24x (3 zuabStb + 2 Lm) in LmB
R6: 24x [2x (2 zuabStb + 1 Lm) in LmB]

R7+8+9: 48x (2 zuabStb + 1 Lm) in LmB
R10 (1. Hälfte): 48x (2 zuabStb über 2 LmB + 1 Lm)

#100DayOfCrochetOrnaments (Part III / Teil 3)

Day / Tag 60

Dear friends,

The #100DayProject days 41 till 60. We have passed the half-time mark and are now nearing the finish line one step at a time. True: day 100 is still miles away!

#100DayOfCrochetOrnaments (Part II / Teil 2)

Dear friends,

unbelievable! The #100DayProject challenge is already running for 40 days. And it no longer feels weird crocheting Christmas ornaments in the middle of spring either. After all, I'm keeping busy with a few other things too. Dyeing wool for instance and crocheting thistles.

#100DayOfCrochetOrnaments (Part I / Teil 1)

Dear friends,

I know it‘s weird to make crochet Christmas ornaments in Spring – just ask me! Christmas ist still many months away and the world outside my window finally turned into Spring-mode. The dull garden suddenly is full of flowers and colours and I‘m either indoors or on the patio industriously stitching away humming „Jingle Bells...“.

Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer…

Dear friends,

just four more nights to go till it‘s Christmas. Isn‘t that exciting? Now that I‘m ready with the accounts for the business part of Atelier Marie-Lucienne, I‘m really looking forwards to it. I love the Christmas time, the sparkle, the tree, the music, the candlelight, the fairy lights, the cards, …

Myriads of Stars - Sternenhimmel

Dear friends,

you might remember I took part in the Friendly Challenge N°106, hosted by Mia. It was so much fun I asked Ana, who is hosting the Friendly Challenge N°107, if I could take part here too. The topic being „Preparing Christmas“, I simply could not resist.

I thought of a few projects, actually started three, but I‘ll only share this one with you.

Time flies – die Zeit rennt

Dear friends,

I honestly do not know why it‘s been three weeks since I‘ve posted last time. And if you‘d ask me I frankly couldn‘t really tell what happened in between. Too much for sure, and too little time to spend in the studio for some mindless crochet.

December Blues

Dear friends,

it's been a while since I wrote the last post and even though I haven't been idle in the mean time, I just didn't feel up to blogging.

You might remember the Christmas Fair at Gaby's on the 26th? We had bad luck with the weather: It was wet, it was freezing and nasty. As a result not many people showed up. Mind you! We did have lots of fun that day, but it left me absolutely drained.

Granny-Spiration Challenge 2017 – December (Part XII ) / Dezember (Teil 12)

Dear friends,

it's the 2nd of December, first Saturday of December! It's time for the Granny-Spiration Challenge – the last one this year!

Let's start with sharing our top link ups from the last Challenge:
   1. Donation for Sahel eV III (A Granny Square Blanket) from HakelLine (here)
   2. Dean's Day Blanket is Done from Liefs van de Breimeisjes (here)

Freitag, 24. November 2017

Dear friends,

the fair is the day after tomorrow. I have been busy all day with last minute preparations at home. Tomorrow we meet at Gaby's to put up the pavilions and decorate the place. On Sunday morning we'll finally take all the stuff we've made these last few weeks out.

Running out of time – In Zeitnot

Dear friends,

a week from now it's my birthday and I'd like like you to have a piece of my birthday cake! Therefore there's a 10% birthday sale on all my items listed in my Etsy-shop from today till next Saturday!

Frankly said: don't really know whether I feel like celebrating my birthday at all. There is still so much to do till the fair on the 26th. I simply haven't got any time to spare for any cosy get-together and eating cake (BTW – still haven't got rid of those 2 kg!!!)!

A month from now … / In einem Monat …

A month from now ... and the advent season starts!

Dear friends,

it's the 1. of November. Guess it's time to start thinking about the Advent as well as the Christmas season. Sometimes I already had gathered all Christmas presents – not this year though...

Having two days off I spent the first one (yesterday) on Etsy, uploading items. Uploading Christmas Baubles, to be precise!

Easy Christmas Stocking – Einfacher Weihnachtsstrumpf

Dear friends,

you haven't seen many tutorials on this page lately. As Christmas is a time of giving, I thought could share my Christmas patterns with you. Let's start with my current favourite: a Christmas Stocking!

  • scissors, yarn needle
  • crochet hook (I used a 4mm one)
  • yarn (Stylecraft DK and Katia Gatsby)

Like a Madwoman – Wie eine Verrückte

Dear friends,

I've been doing crochet like a madwoman. And that's why: not yet two weeks ago Gaby (with whom I went to that fair in May) decided she and I were going to have a small Christmas fair of our own. It's not going to be called „Christmas fair“ but „open day“ but as it's to be on the last weekend before the Advent season starts – what else will it be...

Merry Christmas - Frohe Weihnachten

All glory be to God on high,
And to the earth be peace;
Goodwill henceforth from heaven to men
Begin and never cease.

Christmas Bauble Makeover 2016 - Weihnachtskugel-Umstyling 2016

Dear friends,

I've never been pretty up to date. Most of the time I haven't got a clue of what might be fashionable or “in” at present…
Therefore I was surprised by the amount of Christmas decoration in pale pastel shades (next to the traditional red-golden decoration).

It's finally getting Christmassy! - Endlich wird es Weihnachtlich!

Dear friends,

last Friday I stumbled upon a cute and glittery little deer in a shop and it had that „You definitely have to take me home!“ look on it's face (my husband just rolled his eyes and sighed meaningfully)...
As chance would have it I stumbled upon this skein in the studio shortly afterwards.

Christmas Presents (Part II) - Weihnachtsgeschenke (Teil 2)

Dear friends,

I'm not getting on well with the Christmas presents – got sidetracked by other projects...

Luckily enough these present just needed the buttons sewn on (since two weeks though).

Christmas Presents (Part I) - Weihnachtsgeschenke (Teil 1)

Dear friends,

nearly done with the Christmas presents – at least those I wanted/could make myself and except those I haven't thought of so far. These will probably end in last-minute-nightshifts...

Luckily enough these shifts are still miles away and I'm able to show you the first load of finished presents.

These scarves I've made for my men – but only one volunteered to model...

Christmas Rebellion (Part II) – Weihnachtsaufstand (Teil II)

Dear friends,

late afternoon on Sunday my husband finally bought „The Tree“. So I had no time to crochet on Sunday-evening. I gathered all Christmas decorations I had made myself or bought secretly these last few weeks in the living room and started decorating The Tree.
