My Happy Place - Glücklich sein

Dear friends,

Why do we do what we do?

Oh dear! Welcome to Philosophical Sunday ! Over on Instagram I took part in the #indieroller Instagram Challenge by Leona @indie_roller and the daily prompts gave me plenty of food for thought.

One of these prompts was „vision“. I thought about that prompt from the moment I woke up, over breakfast and lunch, till it suddenly dawned on me that I could not talk about nor grab my „vision“, without knowing my „why“.

Why do I do the things I do? What is the true story behind Atelier Marie-Lucienne (and I‘m not thinking of that vacant room back in November 2014 – see „about me“).

I do what I do because I love pretty things. I love to surround myself with pretty things ; with things that make me happy ; with things that bring me joy. And I want to share this happiness and this joy with you. I do not own these pleasures. They are not my own! Not sharing feels selfish.

During the recovery of my breakdown end of 2013, early 2014 I learned something utterly important: I have the right to being happy.

And you know what? We all have the right to being happy. Each and every-one of us! And that is why I share my happiness and joy with you, (a) to let you participate in these feelings, (b) to show and remind you that you have a right to happiness, beautiful things and joy, (c) to spark this exhilarating feeling in you, and (d) maybe just to brighten up your day ...

That‘s why I crochet and post about my crochet. Crochet gives me joy, crochet makes me happy, crochet is my happy place. And it makes me happy to make pretty things, and to share these with you, to share the process, to share the results.

This is pretty strong stuff, right? Nonetheless I invite you to join me on this non-judgemental journey towards my and towards your inner strengths, values and purpose. Because, maybe I can inspire you to think about your why too. But, please, do it gently, be kind and compassionate about yourself!

And yes, you’ve got it right: this is only the first part. We will approach our true core gradually, together, taking it one step at a time.

Would you mind sharing your thoughts on this with me/us?

I‘ll keep in touch!

Liebe Freunde,

I

  1. Yes, it is important to remember that joy is ours each and every day by our choices and actions and by sharing we create ripples around the world. :)

    1. It's also important to remember (or know) that we can consciously decide to look for the joy and happiness in our lives too!
