Deliriously Happy / Freudentaumel
Dear friends,
even
though I'm deliriously happy I'd better stop dancing with joy cause
the weather-gods above might think I'm wishing for rain. That would
be a shame, as I'm happy cause there's (at last) plenty of sunshine
and because I've (finally) finished my blanket!
HOORAY!
Here
it is:
History:
- Idea: 1st of May 2015
- Start:
- 1st try: 6th of September 2015
- 2nd try: mid October 2015
- Granny squares:
- Pattern: “The Flower Within”
- Amount: 219
- Last one made: 17th of April 2016
- Joining:
- 1st try: 21st of April 2016
- 2nd try: 24th of April 2016
- Start of edging: 3rd of May 2016
- Completion: 5th of May 2016
- Measurements: 190 x 200 cm
- Yarn:
- 2 packs of “Deramores Studio DK Seascape Colour Pack“ (Sky, Malachite, Peridot, Topaz, Oatmeal, Jade, Pearl, Fir, Smoke, Amethyst, Mist und Blue Velvet)
- 1,5 skein Stylecraft Special DK “Saffron”
- 2 additional skeins Deramores Studio DK “Pearl”
Before
I could start joining the grannies I had some decisions to make. In
the end I choose a blanket measuring 15 rows at 14 grannies each. I
spent one whole evening laying out all 210 grannies needed. Got some
help here, but still made plenty of adjustments till I was completely
pleased with the result.
The
technique I used for joining the grannies is somewhat unorthodox. The
joining tends to tilt towards one side but I'm quite happy with it as
it was fast and easy as well. I did use nearly two complete skeins
for the joining though...
Legend (Joining + Edging) |
Joining - chart |
As
I had figured right from the start of joining the grannies that two
skeins of „Pearl“ would not suffice, I had ordered some more in
time, so I did not have to delay starting with the edging...
Chart Edging |
The
edging isn't special at all, but I like it. I did need both newly
arrived skeins though!
Now
I've got nine grannies left. That would make a lovely cushion to go
with the blanket, but for now I'll just enjoy the sunshine and that
wonderful sense of delight because I've finally finished my first
blanket...
I'll
keep in touch!
P.S.:
As I cannot draw I made the charts with “Crochet Charts” (free
download).

Liebe Freunde,
HURRA!
Verlaufsprotokoll:
- Idee: 1. Mai 2015
- Anfang:
- Fehlstart: 6. September 2015
- Neuanfang: Mitte Oktober 2015
- Granny Squares:
- Muster = „Die Innere Blume“
- Anzahl: 219
- Ende: 17. April 2016
- Zusammenhäkeln:
- Anfang: 21. April 2016
- Neustart: 24. April 2016
- Anfang der Borte: 3. Mai 2016
- Fertigstellung: 5. Mai 2016
- Abmessung der fertigen Decke: 190 x 200 cm
- Garn/Garnverbrauch:
- 2 Pakete „Deramores Studio DK Seascape Colour Pack“ (bestehend aus: Sky, Malachite, Peridot, Topaz, Oatmeal, Jade, Pearl, Fir, Smoke, Amethyst, Mist und Blue Velvet)
- 1,5 Knäuel Stylecraft Special DK „Saffron“
- 2 zusätzliche Knäuel Deramores Studio DK „Pearl“
Bevor
download) angefertigt.

Just love it, and it did need those yellow squares too.

AntwortenLöschenHello, Dear Pat,
Löschenunfortunately the blanket will not stay with me for long. It's to be a wedding-gift. As I'm so delighted with the blanket though I seriouly consider making us one too (notwithstanding the hard work) in different shades though.
Have a nice weekend,
Marjan
Ohne würde was fehlen!
Schönes Wochenende!
Marjan
Love it!! Well done :-)
AntwortenLöschenThank you very much!
LöschenWhat a beauty and it is so big, I can see myself snuggling in it right now.
AntwortenLöschenHello Mary,
Löschenhappy you like the blanket. It's big and heavy and soft. I will definitely make one for us (as this one's a wedding-gift).
Have a nice week,
Marjan
It's beautiful! I love the colors and the contrasting white edging. I don't think I've ever seen that method of joining the grannies, but I love the end result, it's so pretty! So I need to go back and study your chart a bit more, because I totally need to try this.
AntwortenLöschenThank you for sharing at The Really Crafty Link Party! Pinned!
Hello Teresa,
Löschendidn't come across this method of joining anywhere before either but someone might have tried it. It's not the most elegant or sophisticated join, rather quick and easy instead, and it suited me best.
Thank you for pinning!
Marjan
Oh I wish I knew how to crochet, this is sooo very pretty. Sie is sher schone (sorry if my grammar is wrong, your blanket really is beautiful)
AntwortenLöschenHello Michelle,
Löschenthank you very much! Crochet isn't difficult at all - why don't you give it a try?
Have a nice weekend,
Marjan

Congratulations for winning my Link up last week.
AntwortenLöschenA New party is open :)
Hurray! Thank you - I'll join right away!
LöschenIt is so pretty Marjan, I came back for a second look. This has to be a solid blanket. Rich and supple to the touch, not to mention eye candy with all those gorgeous colors. Thank you for sharing it with us at Sweet Inspiration.
AntwortenLöschenThank you very much, dear Mary. The blanket really is beautiful and I'm happy I've choosen Deramores Studio DK, as it's much softer than Stylecraft special DK (with I like too though). Thank you for hosting your wonderful party!
Löschenbeautiful color and a unique (to me at least) way to join and the edging is awesome! thanks for sharing :)
AntwortenLöschenThank you very much! I'm no good at join-as-you-go and I did not feel up to any of the sophisticated joining methodes around, so I just thought of something easy and simple. Worked out fine and I'm going to keep using it!
LöschenHappy crocheting,
Marjan
