Garden Mandala – Garten Mandala

Dear friends,

yesterday afternoon, it was nearly 6 pm, I suddenly felt like making a few madalas for the front garden. You might remember last year's yarnbombing (here and here), which was mostly in pale blues, soft pinks and purples and greens. Everything is still there, a tiny bit faded maybe, but definitely lacking brightness and vivacity.

Progress - Fortschritte

Dear friends,

I'm finally getting somewhere. Well at least I've got the feeling things are finally moving on. It started with the dyeing experiment (which will continue next week) and it ended with pattern-writing.

Granny-Spiration Link-Up Party #4

Welcome to the Granny-Spiration Link-Up Party!

It's the 1st Saturday of April!
It's time for the fourth Granny-Spiration Link-Up Party!

(Hier geht's zu den deutschsprachigen Erläuterungen...)

This Link-Up Party is all about granny squares. You are most welcome to link-up any projects you've made with either the traditional granny square, the solid one or any granny square you love or even have created yourself.

The Granny-Spiration Link-Up Party will start on the first Saturday of each month at 8 a.m. (CET) and will run 20 days. You'll be able to share your finished objects as well as your WIPs with other crocheters from all around the world. The five most popular links will be featured and shared on my social media sites.

You haven't got to be a “big name” or a designer to join the Granny-Spiration Link-Up Party. All you need is a granny square related crochet (or knit) post. By joining the Granny-Spiration Link-Up Party you will be able to grow your blog as well as gather loads of inspiration.

Before we enter the next party, let's start with sharing the top five link ups of the March Link-Up Party (#3):

  1. Donderdag - dekendag from De Breimeisjes:
  2. Een beetje stuk... en een stukje deken from KatKatKatoen:
  3. Grannydeckchen from Dino-Bären:
  4. Meine ersten neun Grannys vom Kalevala CAL from Mustermixerin:
  5. I Like ‘Purse’onality from Craftygardener.ca:

🎉Congratulations🎊, ladies!

Now let's move on to the Granny-Spiration Link-Up Party #4

Party Rules (please read!):
  • Link directly to a granny square related crochet (or knit) blogpost (not to your home page). If you haven't got an actual project to show, feel free to add a link to an old blogpost! Anything family-friendly goes!
  • Limit to 3 links and don't repeat projects which have already been featured.
  • Link up your own work. Links infringing on copyright and/or trademark as well as sponsored posts will be deleted.
  • Please visit at least one other link and leave a nice comment to support your fellow crafter!
  • I'd highly appreciate if you'd follow me on at least one of my social media links (see below) – if only to know if you got featured or when the next Granny-Spiration Link-Up Party is due.

By adding your link to the Granny-Spiration Link-Up Party, you give me permission to share your post and pictures on my social media sites, in features, in round-ups and on my blog (always with a link back to you for proper credit).

Help me to get the Granny-Spiration Link-Up Party known by sharing on social media, by linking back to this party and by tagging it with #GrannySpirationLinkUpParty. The more people taking part, the merrier it'll become!

Thank you for joining the party! Have fun!

Episode 4 + C2C Fox Cushion / C2C Fuchskissen

Dear friends,

🐑🐰Happy Easter!🌷🐣

You might know by now that I've got a soft spot for foxes. Even though I have, you never could have told by my crochet, could you? That's why I decided on making a fox cushion approx. three weeks ago.

Sunshiny Day Pullover

Dear friends,

I'm not making much progress, not getting much done, when it comes to crochet lately. Don't ask me why, I cannot tell. True I'm working out a way of making pretty project bags with cross stitch quotes on them, true I'm taking part in #MarchMeetTheMaker on Instagram, but... I simply do not know.

Commission - Lucy Lace - Auftragsarbeit

Dear friends,

on Sunday evening I finally finished the Lucy Lace Shawl* commission. And I'm glad it's done! No-one who has witnessed me making this shawl would wonder if I'd say „Never again!“, but I won't, cause it's actually a beautiful shawl. But...

Make Light - Erleuchtung

Dear friends,

I've been taking part in the social media spring clean, a free course by Emily Quinton of Makelight. If you frequent Instagram regularly you'll have noticed those Year of Colour pictures popping up at the end of 2017. I had one made too and not recognizing myself in that colour palette I visited Emily's site - and that's been one of the best impulses I had these last weeks.

The spring clean course didn't just alter my perspective on social media, which I found very demanding as well as overwhelming at times, it also gave me a little nudge on how to manage things as well as a boost on getting on.

Craft Swap – Ein Tauschgeschäft

Dear friends,

if you've watched episode 2 of my podcast* you'll know about the craft swap Christina of Garnharmoni initiated.

She proposed to knit me a (most lovely) hat with sheep and an alpaca and I could crochet her anything in return. I'll show you some pictures as soon as I've got the hat, but you might have a look at Christina's facebook or Instagram account to get a glimpse of the hat.

Luckily Christina mentioned she likes sunflowers. Early autumn 2016 I had posted a free pattern of small sunflowers in my blog.

Dear friends,

a new episode of the Atelier Marie-Lucienne Podcast is now online!

In this (second) episode I show you two FOs (the Folkloristic Valentine's Shawl and the Bright Retro Granny Square Coat), I tell you a little about my trip to Berlin and I talk about the WIPs, I'm currently working on, about stitch markers, about a craft swap with Christina (= Garnharmoni) and about project bags.

Woolgathering / Garn-Verordnung

Dear friends,

these last two weeks have been very busy, and I feel pretty exhausted. There's been a lot of non-yarny-related things to do (next to daily life as well as job), all rather time-consuming as well as stressful, unexpected and demanding.

So instead of recording my second podcast, as I intended to do, I've just prescribed myself a weekend of snug and quiet retreat into the studio. A weekend with some candles, lots of tea, some appeasing music, some mindless crochet, the odd stitch marker or even another project bag and maybe I'll finally feel up to tackling the commission I've been given a while back.

Bright Retro Granny Square Coat/Jacke

Dear friends,

it's been quite an adventure from the picture which I had in my head (and which I translated into this drawing)

to the finished object.

It took me from the 18th of December 2017 till the 31st of January 2018 to finish the coat. True I haven't been working on it full time – I did take a few breaks (just think of stitch markers, Valentine's Shawl and project bags)...

A Folkloristic Valentine's Shawl – Ein folkloristischer Schal zu Valentinestag

Dear friends,

it's been a while since I wrote a blogpost about crochet, hasn't it? There's been two about the Granny-Spiration Link-Up Party, one (err – two) about the Blogovarsary, one about my very first podcast and even one about postcards.
Guess it's time to concentrate on crochet again, isn't it?

Episode 1

Dear friends,

there's no going back now, is there? I've just uploaded my very first podcast onto YouTube... So, I am a tiny little bit nervous right now...😓

Don't worry: even though I'm babbling and mumbling quite a lot (must do something about that!), I'm doing it in English, not in German - I've explained why.

The podcast isn't awfully long, just a little over 20 minutes, so I would be very grateful if you'd have a look. I'm talking a bit about me, about podcasting and blogging, and about my current WIPs.

Oh dear, I hope you'll enjoy watching the podcast and I hope your verdict won't be too bad. But please, be honest: if the podcast is rubbish, just tell me and I won't be tempted to make any more episodes...

I'll keep in touch!

P.S.: I've just found out: The sound is pretty horrible - it might be a good idea to get your headphones out... Sorry about that (must do something about that too)!

P.S.2: If you'd like to watch a better version - try the second link (still take your headphones along though)...

https://youtu.be/D5Yaezg9BMo

Liebe Freunde,

oh weh, nun führt kein Weg mehr zurück: Ich habe gerade meinen ersten Podcast bei YouTube hochgeladen... Und ich bin ziemlich aufgeregt und nervös! 😓

Dear friends,

I've got this really bad habit of reading/leafing through books, magazines or advertizing leaflets while having breakfast on weekends. So I did this morning too. But let's start at the beginning...

Yesterday evening after our evening bite, the hubby and I tackled one of the cupboards in the living room. We've been patchworking since 2011 and never really sorted things through ever since. So we tackled this cupboard, discarded quite a few things and I stumbled upon a huge pile of magazines.

Great! Got something to leaf through for the next few weeks. Leaf through and discard it afterwards – was (and still is) my plan. After all I hadn't missed these magazines these last few years...

Happy Birthday! + Give-Away! + Preisausschreiben!

Header from 2015

Dear friends,

I can hardly believe it, but my blog just turned 3! Very quietly and hardly noticed – not even by me.

Lucienne's Summer Mandala
As so often my decision to blog was very spontaneous and because of that I cannot really remember which day I actually started. Must have been the 5th or the 6th of January 2015 – as my first post was published on the 7th - but I'm just guessing.

Be it as it may. A lot has happened since then: I've written quite a few patterns and tutorials, opened an Etsy-shop and even started a Link-Up Party! AND! My little crochet space has reached 500.000 views! I certainly didn't dare dreaming any of this when I started blogging.
